Being Your True Self in Relationship

“I was keen to experience the manner in which working with the horses could help me to overcome emotional barriers and obtain clarity in dealing with others – both human and animals.”

One of the myths of relationships and social interactions is that we should be able to make instant connections. Of course, there are occasions when this does happen, but it’s also very common to feel unsatisfied with our relationships, even those that we value and wish to nurture. Humans are complex beings and when limiting beliefs and conditioned patterns, that often have their roots in our childhood experiences, show up we can find ourselves reacting from a place of people pleasing, fear of rejection and/or the feeling that we need to impress. And when these things influence the way we communicate with those around us, they can lead to a sense of disconnect, or even feeling “let down” in our relationships.

Can you relate to this feeling?

Over years of doing this work I have noticed that many of the people that I work with start their journey with a desire to be more authentic in their relationships, so they can feel more understood, fulfilled or valued. Likewise, they wish to establish relationships that are mutually satisfying, because when we can be true to ourselves in our communications with others, we open up the space for the other person to feel safe to do the same. In turn this can create an outcome or resolution that meets the needs of both people and strengthen the relationship between you.

If you find that you often come away from interactions with others feeling like you have agreed to something that you would have preferred to say no to in order to “keep the peace”, or if you often overthink your response for fear of saying the “wrong” thing and causing conflict, then my new workshop may be of interest. Being Your True Self in Relationship, is designed to help you establish a new kind of communication which feels authentic, reflexive and dynamic, in the moment, on a base of acknowledgement of who you are, where you are and the story you have lived.

“The idea of living as my authentic self was very appealing to me but I really wanted help to ascertain what this was.  In three days I learnt so much about myself that I was unaware of.  It’s all there deep within our subconscious and the horses really helped me to access my feelings on a deeper level.  I came away with methods to understand and process my emotions better which I am finding incredibly helpful on a daily basis.  I feel able to view situations and people differently now and I understand myself better.  I feel excited about the prospects for change now.”

Over three days you will learn how to listen to messages from your body so you can start to understand yourself and your emotions more clearly. Regular interactions with the horses will help you to explore a variety of factors that may be holding you back from being your authentic self in relationships, as well as supporting you in getting clear on what is currently preventing you from setting clear boundaries, asking for what you want or simply feeling able to pause before you respond rather than reacting impulsively and without consideration for what you truly want or need.

It may help you to know that I have been there myself and, in truth, sometimes I still find that old stories come up that cause me to react in ways that feel uncomfortable. This is an ongoing practise but when we have a deeper understanding of our true desires and needs rather than what we have been conditioned to think and feel, we can start to communicate in a way that reflects who we truly are.
