Just Be

Just Be
(Mindfulness with Horses)

  • Are you experiencing anxiety or do you simply need a break?
  • Do you want some ‘time out’ for yourself?
  • Do you want to be more emotionally aware?
  • When was the last time you were able to Just BE?

In today’s fast paced lifestyle, it’s far too easy for the days to pass us by without having an opportunity to re-connect with ourselves and just take a moment to breathe.

So many of us are burnt out, feeling overwhelmed and stressed, on the edge and desperate for some quiet time away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and constant information overload. We spend so much time in our heads, and are doing, doing, doing, without taking a moment to stop and just BE.

What’s Just Be about?

Just Be is a half-day workshop where I will share my experience and approach to mindfulness, and you have an opportunity to get out of your head and drop into your body. Escape the constant demands of everyday life, spend time outside surrounded by nature and the horses, quieten the mind and relax and recharge yourself in a safe environment.

The workshop is designed to give you the opportunity to experience the benefits of the ancient art of Wu Wei, or ‘non-doing’. Author Linda Kohanov writes that horses have perfected the art of Wu Wei and they teach us how to ‘go with the flow’ and respond freely to each situation that arises so that we can choose from freedom not from habit.

The gift of ‘non-doing’ is that it provides a space between the old way of being and the new. Before you can enter a new way of being you have to end the old. It is important to take time to integrate the lessons and learnings of the old story and then create a space from which the new beginning can arise. Just Be provides the space to release old patterns of belief and behaviour and make way for the new.

You will be guided through mindful and self-reflective exercises, learn to connect with the information of your body and emotions and experiment with your insights. You will have an opportunity to spend time in the presence of horses and observe what they have to teach about mindfulness.

Because horses are fully present and without agenda or judgement, they invite us to be the same. It’s actually more difficult to not be present around the horses.

Explore how the Horses as Teachers approach to mindfulness can help you to be more calm, present and focused and to make clear, confident decisions.
